You've been affirming.

Our daughter did her job search last year after graduating college. I knew what she valued and listened to her career conversations with friends as well as prospective employers (the phone call part).

The fact of the matter was, the internal recruiters weren't in tune and their screening software used keywords that would have landed candidates 25 years ago. 

I began talking with corporate clients and their HR people about this. These were all folks with whom I have had long-time relationships. Truth be told, they paid lip service but really didn't want to be bothered with "cultural fads."
